The Comet P8510 Low Cost Ethernet Thermometer

The Comet P8510 Ethernet thermometer is a simple to install, user-friendly websensor with a built-in temperature sensor measuring in degrees Celsius and degrees Fahrenheit. The Comet P8510 has a convenient wall mountable design and it features email alerts and built in web server, at no extra cost making it a very cost effective data acquisition solution. And if you thought that was good, there's more.

The Comet P8510 can be used on its own to monitor a space or it can be connected with up to one hundred units, which means it can monitor the temperature of either small or vast areas with multi-point monitoring.

The P8510 Ethernet thermometer is designed for ambient temperature measurement and measurement from up to four external temperature cable probes.

Because the temperature monitoring unit has Ethernet connectivity, the data collected by the unit can be viewed in real time on a computer. Being able to access the temperature data in real time enables more control, because there isn't a delay between recording the temperature and gaining access to the data, it's instantly viewable and so potentially averting the risk of costly damage due to the temperature being too hot or too cold.

The Comet P8510 allows safe parameters to be set, and when the temperature falls outside of these parameters for a predetermined amount of time, an alert can be sent. The alert can be sent to a number of devices including email addresses, a website, IP addresses or via a message sent to a Syslog server. The advantages of alerts giving early notification of a temperature issue, is that it draws attention quickly to a potential problem so that the issue can quickly be resolved. On average a temperature monitoring system can raise the alarm more quickly than traditional procedures and so saving expensive equipment or goods from temperature related damage.

Setting up the Comet P8510 is done via a PC, and is quick easily achieved by means of Tsensor program, or telnet. There is a supporting online manual, with step by step instructions for setup via telnet. The Setup can be password protected for additional security.

The P8510 Ethernet thermometer is housed in a durable plastic case which has a discreet neat appearance when mounted making it suitable for installation anywhere from server rooms and glass houses, to more public spaces such as hospitals, museums and galleries.

The Comet P8510 is a good all-round Ethernet thermometer which is low cost without scrimping on functionality and sleek design. This is a thermometer that would be ideal for installation in manufacturers and warehouses because of its reliability and yet it wouldn't look out of place in restaurants or art galleries, making the P8510 an intelligent Ethernet thermometer.
