computer controlled lighting
Is it possible to control non-DMX lights with a DMX controller?
DMX Lighting is expensive, but still want the computer-based control of it. Any help with a lighting system would be appreciated.
I guess when you say "DMX lighting" is referring to the head in motion / Fantasy gobos, etc, which, as you point out, is really expensive. Theoretically DMX is just the way lights are controlled by a 5-pin XLR connector (also known as DMX). Racks Virtually all lighting controllers and / or the regulator are currently DMX controlled, since it is recognized as the standard industry. You can control generic (non-moving head) torch with a DMX controller. There are many tips that provide control for both shaking their heads and generic (profiles, Fresnel, etc) flashlights, some for one or the other also. I recommend (from experience) that if you just want generic lighting control then a Smartfade ETC would be a good idea because it is totally controlled by computer with a stack theater, sequences and all good things. However, it is not cheap, will make a version 12/24 Back around 1000 pounds. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative that does not go far wrong with a chapter of the 100/200 series. Just make sure you do what the research as possible before purchasing any type of treatment, we hope this helps.
